I opened Todmorden Fine Art Gallery in 1981 -my opening stock consisted of pictures that I had collected during my years as a French teacher at St. Asaph Grammar School / Prestatyn High School.
I opened the gallery with no money, but around 200+ pictures that I had collected during my years as a teacher. In the beginning, having sold off my own collection, I began to sell the work of many contemporary, Northern artists, such as Geoffrey Key, the late Don McKinlay, Peter Stanaway, Reg Gardner, the late Gordon Radford, the late Sue Atkinson, the late Will Turner, the late Don McIntyre, Mike Knowles, Peter Hodgson, Richard Clare, Mike Weeden, Anthony Marn, Ian Norris, the late Derek Davenport. the late Stephen Wild, the late Anthony Butler, the late Millicent Ayrton, Olivia Pilling, Dave Hartley, Keith Gardner, Marie Walker Last, Adam Ralston and Liam Spencer etc.
It has proven to be a wonderful career choice, and I have loved every minute.
